Dan Hannan shuts down ‘euro-fanatics’ with this evidence & proves why Brexit WILL succeed
BREXITEER Daniel Hannan has laid into “euro-fanatics” who act like “doomsday cultists” predicting and then “constantly postponing” the date of the so-called economic apocalypse of Brexit.

Dan Hannan and Brexit GETTY
Dan Hannan has accused Remainers of selective reading

The Tory MEP accused Remainers of selective reading surrounding the economy and insisted continental Europeans still “regard the British economy as attractive” in spite of the scaremongering.

He poured scorn on pro-European Union campaigners who predicted a recession and pointed out Britain had actually grown faster in the six months after the historic referendum than in the same period before.

Writing for the New York Times, Mr Hannan said: “I’ve learned in politics that almost no one listens to the other side. Rather than going to the source, people read allies’ reports of what the other side is supposed to have said.

If a British person tells you that the vote was ‘all about immigration,’ I can almost guarantee that you are talking to a Remainer

Dan Hannan

“If a British person tells you that the vote was ‘all about immigration,’ I can almost guarantee that you are talking to a Remainer.

“Those among my friends who voted to stay in the European Union didn’t weigh and then dismiss the economic and democratic cases against membership; they never heard them.”

Insisting that “most people, whichever way they voted, are celebrating the good news”, Mr Hannan turned his attention to falling unemployment and record manufacturing orders.

He said: “Remainers like to point to the fall in sterling, but rarely mention that, before the vote, the International Monetary Fund and the Bank of England agreed that Britain’s currency, seen as a haven from the travails of the euro, was artificially expensive.

“Continental Europeans evidently still regard the British economy as attractive; more of them are working in Britain than ever before.

“As for the supposed decline of London, a number of European banks, including Deutsche Bank and ING, have grown their operations here since the referendum.”

Mr Hannan also contrasted what has happened since the momentous Brexit vote with what was predicted during the campaign.

The Tory politician highlighted Nicola Sturgeon’s back-pedalling of her desperate plans to push through a second independence vote to drag Scotland out the Union.

He said: “Remain campaigners told us to expect a recession in 2016; in fact, Britain grew faster in the six months after the referendum than in the six months before.

Pound GETTY
Hannan said there had been many positives for the UK economy after Brexit

“They told us that the FTSE 100 index of leading companies’ share prices would collapse; in fact, British stocks performed strongly after the Brexit vote.

“They told us that Scotland would leave Britain; in fact, support for separatism has collapsed, and the Scottish first minister, Nicola Sturgeon, has shelved her planned independence referendum.”

Concluding with the notion he has a “higher opinion of our European allies” than Remainers, Mr Hannan says it is “odd” that they are convinced the EU will act in a “self harming way out of spite”.

EU flag GETTY
Britain voted to leave the EU on June 23 last year

He added: “First, a Leave vote was supposed to wreck the economy. Then, it became ‘wait until we begin the disengagement’.

“Now it’s ‘wait until you see what a bad deal we get from the European Union’.

“It’s odd. The people who are the most pro-union are generally the most convinced that the union will act in a self-harming way out of spite. I have a higher opinion of our European allies.”

This is the man the aldershot Brexit constituency chose as their Parliamentary Candidate in 2017 after their MP Gareth Howarth stepped down, only for Conservative Central HQ to overrule their choice, and instead parachuted in their chosen remain candidate Leo Docherty. CCHQ did this in every Conservative post available for the 2017 General election. The crew involved at CCHQ was specifically given their posts as they were cronies of David Cameron and remainers. Theresa May knew this and had plenty of time to overrule them or replace them – she didn’t, which tells you exactly which MPs’ she wanted to flood parliament with, when she was expecting an overwhelming conservative landslide victory. And why too she will never bring Jacob Rees Mogg or any other Brexit campaigner into the cabinet. At the very least the cabinet should be made up of the same 48% remainers and 52% Brexit campaigners reflecting the referendum result, in order to be fair, but she had another agenda. May is very good at talking her ‘advisers’ ‘ words, but no good at walking the walk.

I backed Theresa till the manefesto that is when she showed her true colours .I believe her and Hammond compiled that manifesto.A 12 year old could of done better. She was so sure of herself she never even bothered to explain to people .the reasons behind it.People were sacked but I think we all know that she must of passed that manefesto and she is the boss and should of taken the blame.
Why would a sensible person put themselves up for PM when they do not believe in leaving the EU.We all criticised Cameron but at leased he had the decency to go.
If we do not leave and I mean leave I will never vote Tory again.
Jacob Rees Mogg is the only person keeping that party going now.

‘…A fan of Dan Hannan…And just try saying that without a Gin & Tonic, I fear that a lot of what he says goes WAY over most people’s heads.

I do NOT mean that in a condescending way, but I was Legally trained to read every word and sentence before commenting and MOST people just grab odd words either off the page or what they hear and get the gist totally WRONG!

Hannan is also ‘wordy’. Entertaining to me, but a turn off for many.

Hannan IS, of course, COMPLETELY correct.’

As One-Knight-in-Bangkok pointed out, read what is said which you obviously didn’t quote ““If a British person tells you that the vote was ‘all about immigration,’ I can almost guarantee that you are talking to a Remainer.” Do you see the subtle difference between “all about” and your “nothing to do with”. Think about it.

“Those among my friends who voted to stay in the European Union didn’t weigh and then dismiss the economic and democratic cases against membership; they never heard them.” couldn’t the same argument be made in revision though, as in most of my friends who voted to leave didn’t weight and dismiss the economic and democratic cases for membership; they never heard them?

Deutsche Bank and the Dutch ING bank have increased their UK presence?
Well big surprise!
It’s not just UK banks who lose pas porting rights into the EU, EU banks will also lose pass-routing rights into the UK. So, of course, they have to increase their presence!
Problem is the non-EU/non-UK banks who have to make a pick. Like those American and Japanese banks that are moving to Dublin and Frankfurt.

Strange that in his New York Times article he accused remainers of ‘confirmation bias’ yet his article was itself riddled with such bias:

No mention of the rise in inflation due to the collapse of Sterling.
No mention that the UK growth projection have been downgraded.
No mention that the growth which has been achieved was based on consumer credit spending, resulting in the highest level of consumer debt since 2008
Etc…..

Remember Hannan came to fame for belittling the NHS on Fox in the US, and is a perfect example of an opportunist, populist politician who knows how to manipulate the simple minded amongst the electorate.

Sterling has NOT collapsed. It is in perpetual fluctuation. Always has been. Always will be. Nothing to do with Brexit.
UK growth projection is just that-a PROJECTION. They’re always wrong.

So the eleven per cent fall in value within 7 days of the brexit vote (now up to fifteen) was ‘Nothing to do with brexit’.

A bit like saying that the fact is gets darker at night is nothing to do with sunset, but then facts are not really important to brexit myopics!

You are so arrogant .! The giant drinks company in London sold £۱۲ billion in drinks they own Guiness. The sales are soaring due to China and the US.They are trading with the EU using World Trade Organisation and free tariffs. They have said Brexit will make no difference to their trading they will take it all in their stride. We see many opportunities if the UK can get some good free trade deals with India.
More buisnesses should get their house in order
Also retail is doing much better and groceries.
Daniel Hannon like Farage and Jacob Rees Mogg can see what you remainers refuse to see that Britain will flourish after we have left.
